In what ways can advertising be said to persuade or manipulate the audience?


Title:

Advertising Campaign for WELCOME Skatestore 

Background:

WELCOME Skatestore is a one-of-a-kind establishment, that sells a wide range of urban and boarding accessories as well as footwear, clothing and spray paint. The store stocks famous skate brands such as Element, Santa Cruz, Baker, Deathwish, Enjoi, Black Label and Milk.

Brief:

The aim of this brief is to encourage the recognition/awareness of the one of a kind skating store, WELCOME Skateshop through the use of 'ultimate terms', presented through advertising medians such as banners billboards and instore graphics, in style that stays true to the sometimes; daft, witty, harsh and confrontational aesthteic of skating. This advertisement campaign should appeal to a diverse audience, including people who are new to skating and people who are experienced, in a age range that stretches from 14 to 22.

Deliverables:

Billboards, Bus banners, in-store applicable graphics (shop sign, posters, social media advertisements) 

Mandatory requirements:

Must include imagery or type based off of locations or themes revolving around Leeds.  

Research aims:

To explore how social and verbal cues can persuade an audience to buy into a brand/image, as well as being able to relate to the target audience.

The affect of social influence through the use of desirable looks and trends in streetwear, and how skater fashion follows this trend in the sense of mainstream streetwear brands, but also contradicts social influence through the encouraging of skaters own unique style through their attire and skating style.
